Free OBD-II Code Data: CSV and JSON
What this is
The whole generic OBD-II code list from this site as a plain file, all 9415 codes, 1.0 MB of CSV or 1.6 MB of JSON. Take it, ship it inside an app, teach with it, or check a code you were handed.
Why people use it
- No signup, no key, no rate limit. One HTTP GET and you have the file. No account, no dashboard, no email.
- Free including commercial use. One condition: the attribution line below. That link is what pays for the upkeep.
- Same rows in both formats. Pick CSV for a spreadsheet, JSON for code. Whichever you take, the columns are identical.
- Plain names, not page text. Four fields per code with no marketing, so it drops into anything.

The files open in a new browser tab, so this page stays where it is while you look. Columns: code, description, category, severity. Descriptions are the short standard name, not the full page text. Severity states the lamp the fault lights.
