• A weak or failing crankshaft position sensor
• A weak or failing bank 1 camshaft position sensor
• A stretched timing chain or belt on bank 1
• Wiring or connector faults between the position sensors and the ECM
• Low compression or valvetrain wear on bank 1

1. Read crankshaft and bank 1 camshaft position signals with a scan tool
2. Check the bank 1 camshaft position sensor connector and wiring
3. Check the crankshaft position sensor connector and wiring
4. Check timing chain or belt stretch on bank 1
5. Do a compression test on bank 1
6. Clear the code and retest
