• A weak or failing high pressure fuel pump
• A restricted fuel filter or kinked fuel line
• A leaking fuel pressure regulator or injector
• A low fuel level or contaminated fuel
• A faulty fuel pressure sensor

What to do next

1. Check actual fuel pressure and volume against the commanded value
2. Inspect the fuel filter and lines for restriction
3. Check for external fuel leaks and injector leakage
4. Monitor pressure drop with a scan tool under load
5. Replace the high pressure fuel pump if pressure falls under load
6. Clear the code and retest
