Cold Start A Camshaft Position Timing Over-Retarded Bank 1

Check these first

• A weak camshaft position sensor on bank 1
• A sticking VVT solenoid or actuator on bank 1
• Camshaft timing set late on bank 1
• Low oil pressure or a low oil level
• Wiring damage in the camshaft sensor circuit

What to do next

1. Watch cam timing on a scan tool during a cold start
2. Check the oil level and condition
3. Test the camshaft position sensor and its wiring
4. Verify the timing chain marks on bank 1
5. Replace the VVT solenoid if it will not move
6. Clear the code and retest
