• Transmission fluid running hot from a low fluid level
• A restricted transmission fluid cooler or line
• A failed torque converter temperature sensor
• Heavy towing raising torque converter temperature

What to do next

1. Read torque converter temperature on a scan tool
2. Check transmission fluid level and condition
3. Inspect the transmission fluid cooler and lines for restriction
4. Test the torque converter temperature sensor resistance
5. Replace the torque converter temperature sensor if it reads wrong
6. Clear the code and retest
