Lost Communication With Steering Column Control Module

Where it lives

For U0212, the part to look at first is the module named here.

Check these first

• A damaged harness between the steering column control module and the central computer
• Corrosion or water at the column module connectors
• An internally failed steering column control module
• A central computer that is not communicating
• The column module fitted or connected wrong

What to do next

1. Check the column module connectors for corrosion or water first
2. Inspect the harness from the column module to the central computer
3. Check power and ground at the steering column control module
4. Test the bus circuit for opens and shorts
5. Replace the steering column control module if it does not report
6. Clear the code and retest
